Kids, birthdays and record property growth. It’s been a week!

It’s been another massive week in the Lancashire household, as we spent pretty much every waking moment at home rightly celebrating the fifth birthday of our cool, funny little legend, Ziggy. As one friend said, there’s no one quite like our ‘Rig’, and it was so good to watch his face light up as he ripped into his presents on Wednesday morning. Love ya mate!

Kids put life into perspective, don’t they? They can make what feels like a seemingly challenging task almost obsolete, and my crew are the best dose of reality in an often whirlwind schedule. As the year takes a good grip on itself, a new round of data’s been released which once again supports what we’ve been experiencing on the ground, and explains why my team and I are constantly on the move.

The REIQ has this week revealed its latest quarterly median sales results (December 2023 quarter), showing our capital city led the way for house price growth over the quarter at 6.91 per cent to a Brisbane LGA median of $1.125M. REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella believes this recent quarter of solid performance proves that price growth in Queensland is sustainable and likely to remain firm.

This is further encouraging news for anyone considering selling, but my advice is to rely on more than the numbers. Prepare well in advance of posting a ‘For Sale’ signboard on your white picket fence. I’ve said it before, speak with multiple agents and ask the right questions to dig beyond the obvious property value and commission discussions.

Do your own research. If you’re a downsizer, you’ve got nothing to lose by heading along to Ray White Toowong’s ‘Downsizer Information Afternoon’ on Thursday, March 14 at 2-3.30pm. Hosted by Ray White Toowong and Reuben Packer-Hill, at Wests Bulldogs Rugby, you’ll gain insights from a panel of experts including a financial advisor, solicitor, mortgage broker and retirement living representative. That’s it for me this week. It’s business as usual across the weekend, other than a wild party for a bunch of five-year-olds (and a horde of siblings). Wish me luck!

I hope you enjoy the read.
