Industry legends, unmissable insights

Many of you may not realise that the Ray White Group, as it stands today, began in a simple shed in the Queensland town of Crows Nest back in 1902. It was there that founder Ray White initially sold a variety of goods before branching into auctioneering and real estate sales. Today, the company is a fourth-generation family-owned business with a global reputation and close to 1,000 offices.

Brian White AO, the grandson of Ray White, joined the business in 1962 after completing an economics degree at the University of Queensland. As Ray White Group chairman, Brian continues to lead and inspire members of the family business, including Sam White, who heads the Loan Market business, and Dan White, who is the managing director at Ray White.

So, it was with a sense of honour and gratitude that Brian afforded me the time for a one-on-one interview during a whirlwind Sydney trip this week. We sat down within the walls of the head office at Martin Place for a memorable discussion about the journey of Ray White. It was raw, honest and emotional, and I’m pleased to say I’ll be sharing our discussion and Brian’s insights within the next couple of weeks.

While down south, I also had the opportunity to record a podcast with Gavin Rubinstein of The Rubinstein Group. It was great to tour their office and catch up with a man at the very top of the industry. What Gavin has created in Sydney is not dissimilar to what we’re achieving in Brisbane, so it was an ideal opportunity to swap notes and support each other.

Finally, we wrapped up the day by catching up with two of my great mates and loyal clients, Justin and Dom. They’ve sold and purchased multiple properties through me and have become solid friends over the years. I truly cherish their friendship, so it was a pleasure to see them again.

Overall, this was a mammoth trip full of learnings and moments of gratitude. I look forward to sharing that exclusive Brian White video interview with you in the lead-up to Christmas.

I hope you enjoy the read.
