If there was ever a week to pause, this one was it.
Anzac Day hits harder as I get older. Perhaps it’s having kids of my own, and therefore appreciating the heavy sacrifices made by those who have left and continue to leave their families to serve our country. Maybe it’s the realisation of how precious and fragile life is, and that our great Australian lifestyle is only possible because of the selfless efforts of those who have gone before us.
Regardless of the reason, I’d like to use this opportunity to thank and honour the more than 1.5 million men and women who have served Australia in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations, and the 103,000 Australians who lost their lives while serving.
“….At the going down of the sun,
and in the morning;
we will remember them.”
Lest we forget.
