The man that did!

By Matt Lancashire

One minute I’m in Alaska helping my mate Lachlan Stuart kick off his epic 58 marathons in 58 days challenge, the next we’re both at Howard Smith Wharves celebrating the end of his incredible world-first feat. Last night, hundreds of supporters gathered at HSW to welcome Lachie home from a journey spanning every state in the USA and Australia, completed in 58 consecutive days.

This is bigger than a run, or 58 of them, it’s about raising awareness and much needed financial support for the Mental Awareness Foundation. Lachie’s managed to rack up around $160,000, after setting an initial fundraising target of $100,000. Donations are still being accepted, click here for more details

He has made the total 2450km adventure on foot look easy, but I can tell you it’s been far from it. One of those runs was completed in a tiny town in Montana, ticking off 2.4km laps in intense winds for six hours while the temp dropped to minus 19 degrees.

He’s an absolute inspiration and I’m so proud to call him my mate. If you’d like to hear more about Lachie, and his work, check out his podcast ‘The Man That Can’. It’s focused on blokes, but anyone keen to get ahead and be the best version of themselves will benefit from a listen.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the read.
