Hot Nights in the City

What’s happening in Brisbane this summer? Take a look at popular events, festivals, markets, shows and reasons to party. 

Warmer, longer nights mean we get to enjoy the best of Brisbane and the end of the year is a great time to hit the brakes and celebrate all the achievements of the last twelve months. 

We’ll definitely be out and about during the Christmas and holiday period. Here are some of the events, festivals and activities we are looking forward to. 

Events

Good Things 2022

Good Things is a music festival created by alternative music fans for alternative music fans. The event will be held at the Brisbane Showground on 4 December. This is the first time this festival has gone ahead since 2019 and fans are excited to check out the lineup.

PGA Championship

The Fortinet Australian PGA Championship is one of the major highlights of the golfing calendar. This year, the DP World Tour season commences in Brisbane at the Royal Queensland Golf Club. A field of Australian and International players will compete for the Joe Kirkwood Cup and $2M in prize money, the richest prize on the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia.

Carols by Candlelight

Celebrate the magic and joy of Christmas with the Brisbane community. This is a lovely show for people of all ages. The Lord Mayor’s Carols by Candlelight will be held on 10 December, at Riverstage. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.

Outdoor Cinemas

Nothing says summer like a film watched al fresco. Keep an eye on Moonlight Cinemas and the Brisbane Powerhouse website for information about their outdoor movie schedules this summer. 

Love Actually in Concert

Experience the ultimate romantic comedy with live orchestra when the much-loved festive film Love Actually In Concert comes to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 10 December. Following sold out performances last year, Love Actually in Concert returns just in time for Christmas, bringing magic and joy to Brisbanites. The orchestra will perform the evocative, hit soundtrack live with the film being projected onto a massive screen.

Michael Buble, Keith Urban, Red Hot Chilli Peppers & More

Fans of globally-recognised crooner Michael Buble will be able to see him perform live on 17 and 18 December at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. 

Keith Urban is playing on 3 and 4 December at the Entertainment Centre. You can also catch Jack Johnson at Riverstage Brisbane in early December, and Kendrick Lamar at the Entertainment Centre on 12 December. 

For a faster pace, tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ January 29th show at Suncorp Stadium are also on sale

Markets

BrisStyle Brisbane Twilight Market

The stalls at this popular market showcase the best of locally-based designers as well as artisanal hand-crafted goods. Held near City Hall from 4pm to 9pm on 2 December, these markets give you the opportunity to do all your Christmas shopping in one go. You can also show up to enjoy the food and live music on offer.

Gasworks Markets

There will be 70 stalls at the Gasometer on 10 December for one of the biggest Christmas markets to date. Shop fashion, art, vintage, homewares, plants, pots, ceramics, children’s, sweets, skincare and more while you enjoy live music. This is a family and pet-friendly event. 

Some of Brisbane’s best eats can be found at Gasworks Plaza such as Botany Newstead, Ping Pong Asian, Milky Lane & more!

Portside Christmas Markets

Enjoy over 50 market stalls offering flowers, plants, ceramics, jewellery, skincare, decor and more. There will be a live band on the wharf and delicious food trucks.

These markets are held at the Portside Wharf on 18 December from 4pm to 8pm.
